It’s truly incredible what the right mentions in the right media can do for your business. Just one appearance or feature can gain you thousands of new followers and customers or clients.
But HOW do you go about this? Do you need to spend tens of thousands on a PR agency? Or can you really do this yourself?
I did it myself, setting up my business when I was broke and way before the internet.
Over the coming days I’m going to give you some practical tips for getting YOU in the media so you get in front of your audience and begin to have the influence you could have and have the business you want. Let’s get started!
First off, you need to start being media savvy. Think about the person you want to reach, the person you want to influence and who will buy a specific service or product from you. Now, ask yourself:
- What are the newspapers they read, during the week and on Saturday and Sunday? What weekly and monthly magazines do they read?
- What radio station are they always tuned into and what specific shows are they likely to listen to? Is it Radio 2 or 4 or a local station?
- What breakfast TV do they watch?
Start to get familiar with those papers and magazines. You’ll find them in your local library or online, so there’s no need to buy them all. You don’t need to read them cover-to-cover; you’re scanning them to see what your potential clients are reading and you’re spotting the names of journalists and what they write.
Do this and you’ll be ready for my next tip that will show you what you can do next.
