In my experience, the Universe supports worthy plans – the grander and braver the better. Dale Carnegie was hinting at the same here.

The what must come before the how. First choose what you would do. The how you can work on, and often falls into place of itself.

We like to pretend it is hard to follow our heart’s dreams. The truth is – how often do you give yourself the chance? How often do you stand tall, declare your commitment and invite Providence to join in?

In his book, The Scottish Himalayan Expedition, W.H. Murray tells us his explorer’s experience:

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative or creation there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.

All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise never have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man would have believed would have come his way.”

And before Murray – Dale Carnegie or me – there was Goethe. Statesman, scholar, artist, man of the world. Goethe had this to say on the will of Providence assisting our efforts:

“Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Action has magic, grace, and power in it.“

The brave man or woman who commits to their big dream and is willing to take the risk – the one willing to do and dare – is the one likely to succeed.

Cecil Beaton would have enjoyed Saturday’s Purpose, Passion & Destiny workshop! There was a man who was in no danger of living an ordinary life.

The same is true for all of you who came to Saturday’s workshop and made it such a great day – and for every member of my site. The very fact that you are here, reading this, signifies your determination to live the most adventurous life possible

The play-it-safe path holds no appeal for you and you will do whatever it takes to assert your purpose and vision, even if it entails being daring, different or downright impractical (where necessary).

This is true for all of you at Saturday’s workshop, and I thank you for inspiring me with your determination to challenge yourself and live out your highest potential and grandest vision for yourself – for your good and the good of all.

At the end of the day I talked of the importance of maintaining your momentum and enthusiasm. This is true for all of you committed to an exciting, challenging life.

The two most important steps to take to keep yourself on that track are to surround yourself with supportive and dynamic people, and to take action and keep taking action in the direction of your purpose and vision.
