Sandra's Story
What would a book need to do to inspire the reader to write to the author and thank them? What emotive or emotional connection would need to be made to evoke such an action? Having read Be Your Own Life Coach by Fiona Harrold this is exactly what I did and I would like to share with you the reasons why.
Before reading Fiona's book I was a conventionally successful business woman. Nice home, good job, plenty of money, lovely husband and two beautiful children. The reality of the situation was that this success was costing me my health, my relationships and robbing me of time with my children. I hated working ten-hour days in an office and I loathed the darkness of British winters. I knew I wanted to do something else, I just didn't know how to start. I knew I needed to make changes but I didn't know at that time how fantastic they would be.
On the 30th March 2001, I read Be Your Own Life Coach, from turning the very first page Fiona took me by the hand and led me through the coaching process. With the conversational tone of a friend, she "talked" to me and I "listened" as her voice guided me through an experience of profound personal discovery. "My promise to you" she told me, "is that if you choose to work with me that your life will change in ways that will take your breath away". Did she keep her promise? You bet she did!
Within forty-eight hours of reading the book, my life's vision was quite literally transformed. A sense of urgency, purpose and power coursed through my very being - for the first time in my life I had the motivation to define what I wanted from my life and the courage to go after it. Since reading Fiona's book, I have begun to design my dream life. I have resigned my position as a corporate manager and set up my own coaching business. I have given up smoking, taken up salsa dancing and lost 10 lbs! I have also given up the help of my nanny and, instead, kiss my own sweet children each morning and each evening before they go to bed - accepting this simple gift in itself means the world to me. Next year, myself, my husband and my children, Chelsea and Daniel, will be leaving the UK to live and work in the bright sunshine of Western Australia - a beach side paradise is our destination.
With Fiona's help I am taking the steps needed to have, be and do everything that I want and in case you hadn't guessed it, I've never been happier! Thank you Fiona for a wonderful book, together we have created magic!
