Tales of Reinvention: Georgina's story
Up until July of last year I had a well paid job as a planning manager in a household named national organisation. This company had fulfilled my career needs for four years until like many others dissatisfaction started to creep in as I looked inside myself and grew to accept that this was not what I wanted to spend my life doing.
I then started off on the stretching and challenging road of reinventing myself. Along the way I found that this decision was to challenge my identity and my existing belief patterns about who I am and who I could be.
I have had a strong interest in personal development and spirituality since attending a Tony Robbins seminar in July 2002 and I recognised that I wanted to explore this aspect of myself further. I now believe that when we make the decision to follow our instincts and seek out our true path then somehow we are guided towards the right situations and the right people to help us understand what we need to do to allow our dreams to materialise.
Changing Direction & Finding Support
After some soul searching I decide that I wanted to retrain as a Complementary Therapist and healer, something very far removed from my background as a Geography graduate and manager but which fitted with my interests in personal growth.
Once I made this decision and announced it I found my dream being supported by friends and strangers. For example I was offered life-coaching from a famous author who I met at a presentation. This helped me to formulate a short-term plan and goals. It also boosted my confidence that my longer term visions were achieveable. I also had the opportunity to release some limiting beliefs through Brandon Bays "Journey Process" by someone I met who was training to become an accredited practitioner.
The result was I found the perfect course, gave up my job and have been studying full time since September 2003. Giving up my financial security was a hard decision and I felt it was a real risk to move into an area where I had no previous experience and no certainty that I would even be successful in my chosen field. Despite these reservations I decided to listen to my intuition, take the risk and do everything necessary to be a success because this move felt right.
Seeing the Dream Through
Nearly eight months later I am nearing the completion of my course, I have already qualified to a high level in a number of therapies and am in the process of starting my own business so I can share my skills and help other people. This is a challenge that scares me and which I know will force me to grow yet again. However as a result of my experiences over the last year I have more faith and courage in myself and my abilities and I know that I will be supported if I take responsibility to see my dream through.
For me this change in direction has been an amazing journey of self-growth, discovery, awareness and understanding and I know that by taking intuitive risks I have allowed myself to feel more fulfilled, happy and more alive.
I urge anyone who is in a similar position to me to trust their intuition and be willing to do whatever it takes to allow your vision of who you want to be to materialise. When you decide and announce this intention you will be amazed at the events that will take place to support you.
