Maria's Story

Dear Fiona,

I have just completed reading your magnificent book, Be your Own Life Coach, and wanted to share my story with you...

I have recently been retrenched from my job as National Account Manager. Initially I was devastated at the thought of being unemployed and not knowing what I really wanted to do with my life. However, I also felt a sense of relief as I have been unhappy in the role for several months.

I decided that due to circumstances it was a great opportunity to enjoy some time off and catch up on all the things that I had to forgo being in such a demanding and stressful role. I decided to begin reading once again, exercise and spoiling myself with massages and facials. It was also the time for me to reflect on my life to determine what job will inspire me and motivate me to get out of bed. However, I didn't have a clue as to how I was going to determine my future.

I then came across your book at my local bookshop and it will now remain at my bedside and will act as my Bible. After reading your book I have made the following changes and decisions in my life after comparing my ideal life to the life that I am currently living:

  1. Currently I live in Melbourne, Australia. This is not where I have wanted to be. I have decided that a change in scenery and people is what I need. As a result I will be moving to Sydney in two weeks. I will be living with a friend until I find a unit to rent.

  2. I have sold my car as I do not need the additional expense of maintaining a vehicle and look forward to transport in the hope of meeting new people.

  3. I will be finding employment in Sydney as a Training Consultant. In my previous role I was unhappy as it did not allow me to solely focus on employees but rather about meeting and exceeding my budget at the end of each month. I want to be able to develop individuals' skills and abilities in the hope of improving their confidence and ultimately job satisfaction. I am so excited!!

I will never give up on making the necessary changes and steps to living my ideal life and achieving my wildest dreams.

I am looking forward to this change and although I have been feeling nauseous, I have decided to enjoy the feeling. Thank-you for your inspiration; I will never look at life the same way again. From now on I will live an exciting life that motivates me and makes me happy - after all I deserve it!

At the age of 23, I am lucky to have realised this now and not at the age of 30 and regretting living an unhappy life.

Good luck with all your future endeavours and thank-you once again.

Regards,

Maria Squatrito
