Cherry's Story - A coach follows her own advice!

Now, I believe as a coach in walking my talk. Last year, I was in a position where I was very happy with my life, doing the work that I love, coaching people to increase their confidence, move forward or change careers and attract or improve relationships. I had realised one part of my vision and was about to take steps to realise another.

Whenever anyone asked me what I really wanted I would say, "I want to move to the country and have a couple of pigs, a horse and a dog."  What I missed out was "a man would be nice too" - this was usually an after thought. I had got to the stage where I was happy with my life and if a man came along then that would be the icing on the cake but it wasn't essential and I didn't really see it happening.

Two events coincided to change that.

The first was Fiona asking me to write the Dating Confidence Courses. Whether it was getting back into the dating scene, coping with relationship challenges or recovering from broken relationships, my coaching skills had been called upon over the years to help either as an empathetic ear by friends or as a coach in my professional capacity.

I'd even coached one client through the break-up of one relationship to dealing with the challenges of the next intimate relationship, which ultimately led to me being invited to the wedding!

The second event was about me realising my vision. I went off in search of my country home with room for pigs and horses. It was this that finally made me realise although I could do it on my own - what I really wanted was to find someone to share this with.

So, I decided to follow the steps I'd written about in my courses and so often coached my clients to take.

I decided what I really wanted from a relationship and the type of man I wanted to meet.  I knew what I would not tolerate and I was happy with myself and my image, so the next step was to uncover the limiting beliefs that were holding me back and challenging or changing them to more positive ones. I realised that this was possibly my biggest stumbling block and so I spent a good deal of time on this.

The final and most important step was to take some action!  I knew that if I didn't take action then I was leaving what I now considered to be important to me to chance. So, I chose to join an internet dating agency, put my tips into action and started dating.

The result? I am now engaged to a wonderful man who is going to build me a pig pen when we buy our country retreat!

If I can do it, you can too.
