Many Thanks
Wednesday, May 7 2008Thank-you so much for your generosity in response to my recent Newsletter.
I introduced you to my brother, Brian, and his efforts to transform people's lives in The Gambia. Brian had stumbled upon a village, Bafaluto, whilst on holiday and found it impossible to return to his luxury eco-lodge without promising to come back and help.
After spending more than £100,000 of their own money, Brian and his partner, Pamela, have brought clean water and a thriving market garden business to the village. They have now moved on to the next village. They work for free. All they need is financial support. Their charity is www.pingcharity.co.uk
I know Brian has emailed you personally if you have donated and if you haven’t, but would like to, just click here and you can!
If your school or place of work would like to pull together on a wonderful, team-building goal of helping a village obtain clean water (£75,000) or a market garden business (£15,000), or if you'd like to adopt PING as your own website's chosen charity, then email Brian pingcharity@yahoo.co.uk or call him directly, 00353 862 556. Last words to Brian and Pamela:
'We are well placed to replicate the Bafaluto model, funds are our only limitation. We have identified and costed similar jobs in another nine villages and need donations totalling £1 million to continue and replicate this work,' explains Pamela. 'Every penny goes directly to the charity, there are no admin costs and all funds donated areput to work immediately - it's the best £100,000 we've ever spent.'
'I believe that for relatively small money we are making a huge difference to people's lives in "our" village of Bafaluto and can continue to do so if we raise the necessary funds. We hope we've helped to improve their lot and reduce the chances of some of their young men being washed up on the southern beaches of Spain in an illegal attempt to make it to Europe' comments Brain.
