Do And Dare

Wednesday, July 4 2007

"Take a chance! All life is a chance. The man that goes the furthest is generally the one willing to do and dare. The 'sure thing' boat never gets far from the shore ."

BreakthroughIn my experience, the Universe supports worthy plans – the grander and braver the better. Dale Carnegie was hinting at the same here.

The brave man or woman who commits to their big dream and is willing to take the risk - the one willing to do and dare - is the one likely to succeed.

The what must come before the how. First choose what you would do. The how you can work on, and often falls into place of itself.

We like to pretend it is hard to follow our heart's dreams. The truth is - how often do you give yourself the chance? How often do you stand tall, declare your commitment and invite Providence to join in?

In his book, The Scottish Himalayan Expedition, W.H. Murray tells us his explorer's experience:

"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative or creation there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.

All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise never have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man would have believed would have come his way
."

And before Murray – Dale Carnegie or me – there was Goethe. Statesman, scholar, artist, man of the world. Goethe had this to say on the will of Providence assisting our efforts:

"Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Action has magic, grace, and power in it."

Take a small step in the direction of a dream and watch the synchronous doors fly open for you. I touched on this on Saturday at my brand new Purpose, Passion & Destiny seminar. It was a truly fabulous day and many light-bulb moments were had!

Thank you to everyone who came - many of you travelling great distances to get there. Thanks also for all the generous emails, some of which you can read below, and I look forward to seeing you all again.

In answer to some of your requests, I would be happy to take the seminar into your organisation - including Frankfurt! Email me and we'll get moving on that, fiona@fionaharrold.com. My next public one will be at the end of July, and another at the end of September.

Karen Foy assisted on the day and spoke of her own light-bulb moment and new do and dare commitment. Karen's big dream has been to inspire and motivate people in her own ex-mining community in Doncaster. Working in a demanding, high-status job in the NHS has kept that dream from materialising. Not any more!

Read about Karen's own epiphany below, and if you'd like her to inspire and motivate you - you can. From today, Karen is now part of our happy team here and my first UK Licensed Coach to run Success Groups in her part of the country. Contact karen@fionaharrold.com
