How Does Coaching Work?
Wednesday, June 7 2006Dear friend,
thanks so much to everyone who came to my workshop at the mind body spirit festival May 24th. It was a terrific day and thanks to everyone who's emailed me since then.
Many of the workshop participants were new coaches and trainee coaches, and keen to increase their confidence and coaching skills.
As a result I've agreed to run a workshop specifically for coaches. The Coach's Masterclass will be small, so please sign up immediately if you'd like to be there - you can read more about it online here.
We also have our competition winner! I'm delighted to introduce you to Liz Christison. Liz won a huge share of the votes, and she obviously struck a chord with many of you. Liz, 49, is a NHS administrator based up in Dundee and keen to rev up her life.
We'll both be sharing our accounts of our weekly coaching sessions on the blog and we welcome your comments and queries. We've just completed our first session and you can read about it here.
How does coaching work? This is a question I'm often asked. And I'm hoping my work with Liz will help to demysify the process.
I've also asked a few clients to say a few words on the subject. Vicky Powell is a member of the site who I have worked with over the past month. When Vicky came to me I was struck by the gap between her potential and the job she was doing – and the salary, which in no way reflected her contribution to the company.
Believe it or not Vicky had been an astounding success selling Avon cosmetics some years ago. She has now decided to do this again, with a wiser, more business-like head on.
Vicky will be playing to her considerable strengths of sales, marketing and building a motivated team, selling products that she loves and believes in. I predict she will rise through the company and comfortably double her old salary by Christmas. Give her a head start by emailing her now to find out more and place your order! vickypowell@msn.com
Vicky shares her experience with you below.
