How Motivated Are You?

Tuesday, May 3 2005

Dear friend,

I hope this finds you well and, if you're in the UK and Ireland, that you had a lovely Bank Holiday. First of all, thanks so much to all of you who have emailed me messages of Good Luck for my Green election campaign and A Huge Thanks to those of you who came along to my hustings last week. I have never appreciated a friendly face so much! I am standing for Hammersmith & Fulham and our Green coach, Julia Stephenson is standing for Kensington & Chelsea. Fingers crossed!

One thing I have learnt over the past few weeks is how vital motivation is. Standing outside tube stations, putting leaflets through doors and addressing 400 members of the public, many of whom aren't friendly, requires a lot of motivation! In fact, you just couldn't do it without it. And, all that motivation surging through you also leaves you feeling exceptionally alive and energetic. It's also fabulous to meet and mix with other highly-charged people.

The lesson for me has been - life is as exciting as you want to make it. Putting time and energy into what you feel motivated about is the key. Sometimes you won't know just how motivated you could feel until you try things and see how it leaves you feeling. No-one is more surprised than me at how motivated I have become!

Mike Blissett, our motivation maestro, is here to coach us to pump it up. Get his new book "Get Motivated" here, speak to the man himself for personal motivation, spend an afternoon with him in Manchester or Glasgow at his Get Motivated workshop or take his brilliant Confidence & Charisma online course.
