Take Control Of Christmas

Tuesday, December 7 2004

I hope this finds you well and getting into the swing of the festive season.

One of the biggest threats to the fun of Christmas is the terrible financial pressure many of us put ourselves under to pay for everything. This Christmas, despite higher mortgage repayments and record debt, Britons are expected to splash out £1 billion more than last year on presents, food and booze. And, according to a new survey, finding the money will be the biggest source of stress during the festivities - outstripping by far the strain of entertaining in-laws and family!

One of the most difficult dilemmas is faced by parents providing presents for their darling children. Faced with a barrage of sophisticated advertising, it is hard to say "No". So, to take back the power and get Christmas under control, I’ve brought in two experts to give us some inspired and very practical advice. Firstly, I’d like to introduce you to the brilliant Teen Coach Sarah Newton. Sarah is pioneering teen coaching in this country and we’ll be seeing a lot more of her on our TV screens next year. I’m delighted that she has joined our team here and she has written a terrific course exclusively for us that we’re launching today, Your Brilliant Teen.

So, if you have children or know anyone who has, use this course! And, for the next 7 days, we’ll make it easier by taking 20% off the normal price - see the information below about how to get this discount. You’ll love Sarah’s original, down-to-earth, no-nonsense approach. You’ll get a taste of her style here as she coaches us on how to handle ‘pester power’, and I need it as much as anyone!

Next, I have brought in a financial services expert, with over 25 years experience in this area. Caroline Anstee is passionate about helping people take control of their finances and has seen the difference this makes to the overall quality of their life. She has a reassuring approach and is superb at finding solutions for every dilemma. Listen to her words of wisdom as she reminds us, "debt can be for life, not just for Christmas."

We’ll be hearing more from Caroline next year but if you’d like to book a Money Makeover session with her for the New Year, or if you’re worried about finances and debt right now, get in touch with her at caroline@fionaharrold.com. Should you have vast amounts of money lying around that you don’t know what to do with, she’ll help you with that too! She’s offering a reduced rate for all Newsletter subscribers of just £50.

So, over to Sarah and Caroline.
