Keeping to routines

Answer by Francine Kaye

Music Student asks:

I have a problem keeping to routines in practicing and preparation or in fact, doing anything at all routinely over a longer time span (OK, I do brush my teeth!).

Time after time, I find myself working in panic close to a dead-line of some sort. I can't let all the possibilities my life presents slip through my hands just because of lack of the ability to keep normal working routines! Please, please, give an advise on how to keep to routines!

Francine says:

No, you cant let these opportunities slip through your hands. You must focus on what's most important to you. Time Management is nothing more than where you put your attention. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • "What do I want?"
  • "Why do I want it"?
  • "What will I have when I've got it"

And then make a huge decision and ask yourself

  • "What action do I need to take to get it".

You already know the answer. There are no guarantees in life, but you can be sure of one thing. If nothing changes then nothing changes - get out and go for it!!!
