What holds me back?

What holds me back - some days I am really strong and positive others pathetic and cannot get motivated or focused - I want to change my career but seem unable to move forward?

Please help.

Mike says:

Sounds as if you're being tough on yourself. One thing I talk about in my coaching and the courses I write is the need to be kind to and support yourself. It's important to build a support structure, which is simply a list of people and activities to call upon when the going gets tough. Mine includes two friends. Or go watch a comedy movie, have a neck and shoulder massage, etc. - you get the idea. The emphasis is on being good to yourself when you need it. Make your own list and write it in the back of your diary.

Regarding moving forward and addressing career issues, write out your ideal life - no holds barred. What would you do if you couldn't fail?

Very often we run out of steam and motivation because what we think we want isn't that at all, it's what we imagine we 'should' do. When you find the thing that really fires you up, wakes you up early in the morning, makes you tingle just to think about it, then you'll have all the motivation you need.

Also, to be honest, a good coach will keep you focused with getting where you want to go more quickly, and make sure your beliefs and values are congruent with achieving the success you want.
