He wants to ‘end this culture of entitlement and build a new culture of responsibility.’ Great idea. It makes me wonder – how does a government foster self-reliance? How can it promote personal responsibility? And is it made more difficult when it pays people not to work, when it takes responsibility for your survival and wellbeing? What does the cradle-to-grave paternalism do to the psyche?
