Making The Most Of The Party Season

Yikes! What do you get when you mix a Christmas party with the wrong attitude?  Just what you expect! So what exactly are you foreseeing for the festive season?

Gloom and doom, or an opportunity to be the life and soul of the party.  Do you have a secret desire to shine and be a social success but haven't quite got a handle on it?

Then now is the perfect time to take stock and re-assess how you have approached the social arena in the past and re-write your own rules to ensure your festive season goes off with a bang.

Being the life and soul of a party doesn't mean you have to have a well rehearsed stand up comedy routine up your sleeve.

Everyone's idea of being at ease socially differs. For some of you successfull  socialising simply means being relaxed enough to not have the stress of worrying about what other people think of you.

Know What You Want

It's so important you know what it is you actually want so you can automatically lift the burden of being something you think you should be rather than being something or indeed someone you know you want to be. So the first thing you need to do is to define what you believe is going to mark you as a success.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What does being the life and soul of the party really mean to me?
  • Why I want to be the life and soul of the party is...
  • Where I rate myself now on a scale of 1-10 is...
  • What I know I could do right now to improve my success is...
  • The reason I'm not already doing it is...

Asking yourself the right questions and indeed knowing the answers to them will force you into a far more positive frame of mind and get you excited about the whole idea of being that social animal you are longing to be.

Marked For Success!

So now you know what will mark you as a success, the easiest way to get there is to learn from those who you believe already have that charisma, that spark, that ability to light up a room. You too have the power to be that person.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Who do I know who can light up a room with their presence?
  • What is it about this person that makes them special?
  • What I can learn from this person is...
  • Which of their qualities do I admire the most?
  • What I know I could do right now to improve my success is...

You may have more than one person on your list, but whoever is on your list I'm sure they are the type of person who sails through the festive season with an alluring glow.

You can too because now you know exactly what it is you need to fine tune. As someone who used to dread the festive season and all its merriment, I've now learnt how to embrace it so I do hope that the above exercises and my "Five Steps To Enjoy The Party" will lead you to a more successful social season and beyond!

Merry Christmas!
