How I Reclaimed My Life
Hooray for this new survey telling us what we all have known for sometime - that our hectic lifestyles are distancing us from our nearest and dearest, including ourselves, in my opinion.
The penny dropped with me at the beginning of 2001 when I read Fiona’s first book Be Your Own Life Coach.
By that time I was separated from my husband, working awful hours and struggling with chronic tiredness and too busy to figure out how to make changes.
Priorities
I made a few major decisions. I made a list of my "must haves" and decided to resign from my job and go freelance. This immediately gave me some control over the hours I worked.
The list I made of essentials was very basic and included things like eating decent fresh food when I was hungry, sleeping for at least seven hours a night, building a home rather than having a house in which I just slept and stored my belongings.
What I was doing was building a structure for my life. From there I was able to include things that were important to me such as friends, family and time to recharge myself.
Is your lifestyle working for you? Would you say that all areas of your life are in harmony? Most importantly, are you living according to your values?
I fully accept that resigning from your job may be unrealistic for most people; however, just by making a few alterations to daily life will get you living a more fulfilling life.
