How to Makeover Your Life

1. Take a break from your life.

Get out of the routine long enough to see it all clearly. One full day away from your usual life will do it. If it's not a workshop, then go to the seaside for the day, have tea in one of those grand hotels and think about the meaning of life - yours.

2. What do you want more of and what do you want less of?

What do you want and what don't you want? These simple questions open the door to your ideal life. Your answers and insights will point the way to dramatic changes or subtle fine tuning.

3. Use what you've got.

Does your current life allow you to bring all your talents and abilities to the fore? Objectively assess your innate assets and practical expertise. How much of these are you using? Are you playing to your strengths or constantly compensating for your weaknesses?

4. Identify your limitations.

And, guess what? The biggest ones are inside your head. Make a list headed, 'The 5 most limiting thoughts I hold about myself are'. Feel free to list as many as occur to you, but isolate the 5, 3, and then 1 that has the strongest grip, most destructive influence. To really dislodge this, use Be Your Own Life Coach or the tape, Falling in Love with Yourself, or of course a good coach.

5. Make your life important.

There's only one person who can do this - that's you. It begins with knowing what contribution you want to make to the world. What's your unique purpose? (have a look at page 90 of The 10-Minute Life Coach for more on this) What would make your life really meaningful? Assume that you are endlessly wealthy. Earning money is not an issue. Then what?
