Be Your Own Boss
Ever wanted to work for yourself?
A poll carried out on this site in August last year asked about your number one career aim for the next 2 years. Nearly 30% of you said that your aim was to set up your own business. But in another poll just a few weeks ago, only 10% of you claimed to be self-employed! I’m sure these statistics reflect the fact that there are lots and lots of people who would love to work for themselves, but never get round to doing anything about it. Don’t let yourself be one of them!
Maybe you’re sick of the rat race and want the freedom of doing your own thing. Maybe you’ve been made redundant and want to explore alternative ways of earning a living. Perhaps you’re a parent who wants to be able to work more flexibly. Or maybe you’ve had a great idea for a product or service that just isn’t on the market.
New Course - Be Your Own Boss
Whatever your situation, if you dream of starting your own business, my new online course will give you all the support you need. It will give you all the necessary practical advice to plan, set up and grow your business. Most importantly, however, it will show you the secrets of successful people.
The most important factor in your success will be your attitude and your behaviour. Anyone can have a great idea, but only the right attitude will ensure that your business is a success.
But the good news is: anyone can be their own boss, as long as they understand what it takes and are committed to their own success.
There are 2 keys to success in business:
- A good idea, well delivered
- The right attitude.
Good Ideas
If you’re going to succeed in business, you need to be selling something that people want to buy! That may sound pretty obvious, but you’d be surprised how many times people set up a business without having done any research at all to find out if there is any demand for their product or service. That’s why so many new businesses fail.
But it’s not enough just to have a great idea – you have to deliver it well. The devil is in the detail. Most of the time, the difference between high achievers and low achievers is that the high achievers – the really successful people – pay attention to important details. That’s what makes the difference between good service and great service.
The Right Attitude
It doesn’t matter how great your business idea is, if you haven’t got the right mentality, you’ll never succeed. In business, attitude is key.
- Successful people take responsibility for their own success.
- They don’t blame other people if things go wrong, they just work to put them right.
- They have a clear goal and an unshakeable belief in their ability to achieve that goal.
- They are focused and they know how to prioritise their work so that they spend their time on important stuff and ditch the things that won’t make a difference to their business.
- And they put in place a support network to help them through the tough times.
- Most importantly of all, successful people never, ever give up. Quite simply, they keep going until they succeed. As Conrad Hilton said “Successful men and women keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don’t quit.”
What's Holding You Back?
Successful people don’t let anything hold them back. So if you’d love to start your own business, think about what’s getting in the way.
- Are you afraid of failing?
- Are you scared of what other people will say?
- Do you think you don’t deserve to be successful?
Whatever the obstacle, it’s possible to overcome it and get on with building a great business – and a great career - for yourself.
Today we’re launching my new online course, Be Your Own Boss. If you think the life of the entrepreneur might be for you, this course will help you to get clear about that. It will help you to focus on what you really want from your own business, and show you what you need to do to succeed on your own. Supplement the course with some coaching to help you get started.
Business success is yours for the taking!
