Five Steps to First Class Motivation

1. Take action NOW!!

You may be reading this article right now, but what if I asked you to look away and take some action right away – what would you do?

Because that's it; so many times we read "How To…" books, get really revved up and motivated to succeed – then do absolutely nothing. And guess what happens to that motivation then? That's right… through the floor. Please don't let that happen to you, don't leave it until tomorrow; do it, take action now!

2. Decide what you want

If you know already what you want, fabulous. But even if you don't, do something, anything right at this moment that will improve your lot.

Whatever it is, do not sleep tonight (and I want you to sleep at the usual time) until you've taken some action; called someone, made an application, committed yourself in some way to following through.

3. Write it down

There's nothing as enlightening as reading a compelling story, especially when it's your own!

Begin by writing down what you perceive as success, your ideal life, the absolute best case scenario. When you're developing a new plan there’s no point in chopping it down to size even before you've begun. As Fiona has said many, many time, "dream, and dream big." Begin writing yours today.

4. Support your dream

Look for evidence to underpin your vision. What are you good at? What special attributes do you bring to the world?

How will achieving what you want enhance your life and that of those around you? And why do you deserve it? This is always a big one, because here we sometimes start to falter. Don't! Accept the basic belief that we are all here to be the best we can be, live the best life we can create, and be as happy and healthy as absolutely possible.

5. Celebrate success

Make playing small a thing of the past. Decide to make being and feeling good a part of your character, and share it with everybody.

I'm not saying become insufferable, but self assured, proactive, confident in the new you – imagine you have that knowing Mona Lisa smile; "I know something you don’t know." Celebrate life, beginning now.
