Five Tips To Enjoy The Party

1.  Breathe

Never underestimate the power of deep, controlled, slow breathing to put you into a more relaxed state.  Try it right now.  Breathe deep from your abdomen, count to 5, hold it for 10, and then release your breath slowly on 5 counts.  How does that feel?  An instant stress buster.

2.  Think things through

If you were to meet you at a party what would you find utterly appealing and intriguing about you?  Re-focus your thoughts on your most positive assets.  Make a list of them right now and obsess on them.

3.  Create your own script

Can’t find anything to talk about?  Don’t believe it.  It’s been a whole year since the last Christmas party, that’s a whole year’s worth of living!  Edit the best bits.  Don’t moan; leave that to others less appealing as yourself.

4.  Choose your own experience

Decide right now to have a fantastic evening.  Make a commitment to yourself that you’ll have a terrific time, no matter what.  Remember “most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be”.  What are you going to make up your mind to be for the evening?

5.  Act the part

Choose the role you want to play for the evening without loosing sight of yourself.  Write down 4 words right now to sum up how you would love to be perceived at the party, eg sexy, confident, in control, friendly; use these words as your mantra for the evening.
