Your Mission Statement
You need to have a clear sense of yourself to forge ahead in life. Your identity comes from knowing what type of person you are – deep down and underneath it all and your sense of worth and fulfilment comes from expressing yourself in the world. This five minute – one minute, Mission Statement exercise, will help you pinpoint the Real You. It’s taken from chapter one of The 7 Rules of Success.
Mission Statement
Answer these questions with five words or a short statement for each:
1. What do you want most out of life?
eg. to be happy and feel fulfilled
2. What do you want to see happen in the world?
eg. peace and happiness
3. What makes YOU special?
eg. my energy, drive and enthusiasm
4. What things can you do/are you capable of doing, right now?
eg. writing, public speaking, coaching
Now write this statement as follows:
I will………………………………………(choose one answer from 4),
using my…………………………………………………(answer from 3), to
accomplish………………………………………….(answer from 2), and
in so doing achieve…………………………………..(answer from 1).
My goal is for every member of my site to have their own clear Mission Statement. And, when you’ve got yours, pass this on so that others can ensure they’re on the right path, all of us clearly and enthusiastically expressing our own unique purpose.
If you’d like to share your Mission Statement here, please do, or any light bulb moments that may also arise!
xx

I just did this exercise and it’s amazing how it opened my eyes and gave me a new perspective and outlook of my own life! To think that so many people simply go through life without ever thinking about their unique purpose and mission. Thank you Fiona for sharing this with us.
Hooray!
The more of us who get on the Right Track the better. A fulfilling life is one with a sense of mission, significance and purpose.
xx Fiona
I will run an “i love life” group, dress colourfully, teach dance and create my dance troupe, start inspiring blogs, write my book, and sing.
Using my super encouraging and inspiring nature, my joyousness and love of colour, my hardworking side, my persistence, and my ability to love.
I will ensure that people enjoy life more, wear colour, sing and dance and see the beauty and happiness within each day. I will ensure people have more fun!
In doing so I make a difference and live joyously.
Awesome!
Sounds great, Rob – there’s plenty there for a full life.
More Power to you!
I will write my coaching website (which I have kept putting off) with renewed enthusiasm and so encourage people to smile more and enjoy their lives and in so doing I will wake up each morning with a sense of achievement and purpose and I will feel content and look forward to my day.
Bingo! thanks
Wonderful Cara!
Just one thing
I love this exercise and found it so successful in sharply bringing me back into focus, I use it regularly with my own clients. I continue to get so much of your book 7 Rules of Success, it is so well worn, I may need another copy!
I actually found your blog entry an inspiration for my latest blog entry. http://lifecoachingbyevelyn.blogspot.com/2010/03/be-your-own-corp-inc.html
