What's Your Passion?
D.H. Lawrence called it ‘the inertia of everyday life.’ You and I might call it the daily grind, but the demands of everyday life can drag you down and away from what’s really important to you.
Here’s a one-minute exercise to get you back in touch with your passion. You may already have your passion uppermost in your everyday life or you may want to recapture it and bring it more to the fore. You may even be quite or totally surprised by what comes out of this little enquiry. I’d love to hear of any light bulb moments!
You can read more on passion in Chapter One of The 7 Rules of Success.
What’s Your Passion?
1. What would you do if you didn’t have to earn a living? Imagine you’ve won the lottery, had a long holiday, and are now keen to do something. What sort of things would you contemplate?
2. What activities are you happiest doing?
3. Identify three occasions when you’ve felt most alive, most powerfully and fully “you.”
4. If you found yourself in prison for some time, what would you still continue to do?
5. What did you love to do when you were ten or younger?
So, if you feel this exercise has helped you to identify your passion, feel free to share your thoughts here with us!
xx

And, don’t forget, we have the new Live Coaching Hour on Thursday at 8pm on the Conversation Board.
The wonderful Sue Clarke, author of our new Purpose, Passion & Destiny course, will be handling your questions and dilemmas. I cannot recommend Sue highly enough. She is one of the first people I’d call for guidance and wisdom.
It’s first come, first served, and the bill’s on us.
Put it in the diary, tell your friends and show up!
xx Fiona
Is it tragic that my answers to these questions are to life coach or provide help to others in some form. Well except for the last question which was to climb trees!!
Hi Tiffany,
there’s nothing ‘tragic’ about where your passion lies. Inspiring and motivating others sounds pretty good to me.
Climbing trees – I’ll leave to you!
xx F
Hi Tiffany,
If your passion lies in helping others, I think you should definitely check out the Conversation Board on this website. It’s a great place to start with a friendly and safe community of people who are all about helping each other and sharing tools and ways to empower oneself. I’m sure you’ll love it. It has lot’s of interesting discussions going on, go see for yourself! Ana x
Gosh, it’s amazing to find that I am living my passion right now! Well, as good as! I logged on to this site nearly 7 years ago now because I was just so unhappy in my work. I wanted to change but didn’t know how and didn’t have the support in place to do it. I started the on-line course from here, Programme To Success and got myself a coach which eventually led me to re-train to become a life coach and I became so interested in the mind and how it works that I am now studying psychology. As well as this I have re-kindled my childhood love of looking after animals and gardening.
Reading through the questions has made me realise that I am actually living my passion right now! The thing that also springs to mind is that it didn’t happen overnight but just being on the journey was very exciting. Following my passion was so worth it.

Dear Janice,
you’ve made my evening! How amazing you’ve been here all that time. I shall toast your success over dinner.
I’m off to support my best friend (our Performance Coach, Rita Hamill) follow her passion to make people laugh as she does her first big London comedy routine!
Happy St Patrick’s Day to everyone!
xx Fiona
I to am living my passion of being creative. My creativity extends to marketing and pr campaigns. I love seeing something come from nothing.
Which really ties in with my childhood. I loved equally my Barbie dolls, dolls house and toy switchboard and typewriter. It was obvious from an early age I would be an entrepreneur.
Hello Fiona,
Hi Fiona,
I have been following your blog recently and have decided that I too would love to join the vocation of being a life coach. (It is something I have always wanted to do but have never had the courage!!) Would you be able to recommend a good course to do? There seems to be endless courses available but Im not too sure they are any good..
Many thanks in advance..
Claire Chester
Hi Claire,
we don’t recommend specific courses – feel free to post your question on my site’s Conversation Board.
Good Luck!
Fiona
I realise that many of the things that I am passionate about are the simple things in life, nature, walks, the beach, sunshine and that I am already in tune with much of what stirs my heart, counselling, group work, living in Cornwall. But I also loved the feeling of running my own property business in the past, being the power behind the throne and feel that however much money I had I would still want to work, open some amazingly beautiful retreat centre by the sea, with fantastic gardens that makes your soul sing…….
Have your say!
