Dreams Can Come True – Sarah's Story
With Fiona’s help I realised that I had to stop just focusing on work, work, work and that I could do things other than just work if given the confidence and time to think about it. After really helpful discussions with Fiona and analysis with her through the homework she gave me I began to remember life before work.
I remembered how I used to do lots of sewing and creative things but had stopped years ago. So, Fiona set a challenge – “pick something to make before our next session.”
As someone who likes a challenge I decided to make a handbag!
It was an incredible achievement as I had never made a handbag in my life. Why a handbag? – well I love handbags and spend a fortune on them and was also going away on holiday and wanted a holiday bag; the shops were full of the winter collections, so I decided to make my own.
A year on I have taught myself to design and handcraft handbags in leather, set up a website and found contacts to purchase components from. As I sit here writing this I realise that actually doing all of this has been no small achievement and that Fiona gave me the get up and go that I needed!
Sarah
I worked with Sarah some time ago. She wanted to pursue her passion for art and design; something she had a flair for but had neglected due to a demanding and successful management career.
She is a fabulous example of getting-on and doing what you really want or dream you can do. She launched a handbag business, which has gone from strength to strength and the bags are to die for.
See for yourself at her website: VV.AMORE.
