Personal Power
I want to talk about your personal power. This is prompted by a feature I came across in London’s Evening Standard newspaper, entitled ‘Women Won’t Tackle the Boss‘.
The feature reported on a new survey which shows that women are losing out in the workplace because they lack the confidence to tackle their bosses about promotions and pay rises.
The article goes on to say, ‘in general, women are significantly less confident in raising awkward topics than men, with almost 60 per cent of female workers worrying they will get upset, compared with just 21 per cent of men.‘
I was absolutely shocked to read this.
It is appalling that so many women are limiting themselves in the workplace, losing out on pay and promotion because of lack of confidence to assert themselves. I urge you to ensure that you are not sabotaging, undermining or short-changing yourself in any way whatsoever. You owe it to yourself to do well in life and never knowingly undersell yourself. Life throws us enough difficulties and challenges without us making it more difficult ourselves!
Your Mission for the rest of the week, and I hope you chose to accept it, is to watch out for any signs of playing small in your life.
Stand up for yourself. Speak up. Express yourself. Pull yourself up to your full height. Don’t let yourself down.
As Eleanor Roosevelt said, ”No-one can make you feel inferior, unless you allow them to”.
Don’t. EVER.

Have your say!
